Dr. Robert Karl is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He earned his BS (Bachelor of Science), DDS ( Doctor of Dental Surgery) and MPH (Master of Public Health ) degrees at The University of Michigan. Dr. Karl was a Harvard Clinical Fellow 1990-1992, sponsored by the US Department of Veterans' Affairs.

In 1994 Dr. Karl established Rancho Las Palmas Dental Care in Rancho Mirage. Professionally, Dr. Karl is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and the TriCounty Dental Association and is an active participant in Continuing Education both academically and clinically.

Dr. Karl has been active in the Desert community charities since 1994. He has served as a Director and Treasurer and Volunteer of Pegasus Riding Academy for the Handicapped, and as a member of the Rancho Mirage Trails Commission, and has actively supported the Aids Assistance Program, Desert Aids Project, Desert Samaritans for the Elderly and Gay associated Youth.
