Porcelain Veneers
With
porcelain veneers, you can have whiter, straighter teeth
and a natural looking, attractive smile that will last
for years with proper maintenance. Crafted from thin
layers of porcelain that are bonded to the front surfaces
of your natural teeth, veneers can hide cracks, gaps,
and chips. With this form of “instant orthodontics,”
discolored teeth can be whitened and crooked teeth straightened.
Veneers can also be used to make small teeth look longer
or to make uneven teeth the same length. Porcelain veneers
can be matched to your original tooth color, making
your beautiful smile look completely natural.
Your
porcelain veneers can be placed on your teeth at our
Rancho Mirage area practice and can brighten your smile
in as little as two visits. We offer a variety of brands
including Lumineers®, and more to best fit your
needs. During your first visit, a small amount of enamel
will be removed from the front surfaces of the teeth
in need of treatment. Then an impression will be taken
so that your veneers can be custom made to fit your
teeth. After about a week or two, when your veneers
are ready, they will be bonded onto your teeth. Your
smile will be brighter, straighter, and more beautiful,
yet will look extremely natural.

Teeth Whitening
Teeth
whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry
procedures for lightening teeth stained by tea, coffee,
soda, and tobacco. We offer both in-office and at-home
teeth whitening to provide our Rancho Mirage area patients
with maximum convenience.
In-office
teeth whitening affords patients the opportunity to
achieve whiter teeth in less than an hour. First, a
bleaching gel is applied to the teeth and then activated
by exposure to a specially designed whitening light.
Alternatively, at-home teeth whitening systems offer
our patients the flexibility and comfort of being able
to whiten their teeth in the privacy of their own homes.
We help our patients choose the correct product for
optimal results. We offer Opalescence®, Day White®,
and Zoom2® home teeth whitening products at our
Rancho Mirage area office. Results can be dramatic,
yet many people will only notice that you look better
without knowing exactly why.

Porcelain Crowns
When
teeth are damaged due to injury or decay, porcelain
crowns can be used to repair them. Crowns slip over
the damaged tooth like a jacket. They can restore strength
to cracked teeth and cover significant areas of decay.
All porcelain crowns can be matched to the original
color of the teeth so they look completely natural.
In addition to the structural benefits of crowns, they
can also be used for purely cosmetic reasons -- to reshape,
recolor, or realign a person's teeth.
In
just two visits, your porcelain crowns can be placed
on you teeth at our Rancho Mirage practice. During your
first visit, your tooth will be trimmed to make room
for the crown. An impression of your prepared tooth
is taken so that your crown can be custom made. During
your second appointment, the custom-made crown is bonded
onto your tooth, creating a more beautiful look and
strong structure that looks and feels like a natural
tooth. With the proper care, your porcelain crown should
last long into the future.

Porcelain Inlays and Onlays
When
teeth in the back of the mouth suffer decay, inlays
and onlays can be used to fill them. Sculpted to ensure
a precise fit, inlays fill cavities and restore strength
to damaged teeth. Onlays are more extensive than inlays,
covering the entire top surface of the tooth. Onlays
are most often used when the extent of tooth decay makes
inlays and regular fillings unsuitable treatment options,
but the decay or damage is not sufficient enough to
require porcelain crowns. Both inlays and onlays are
made from tooth-colored material so that your results
will be both durable and natural-looking. These restorations
are ultimately bonded to the tooth, thus strengthening
the tooth.

Direct Bonding
This
simple procedure can produce dramatic results. Bonding
uses a composite material to repair cracks and chips,
conceal stains, and fill in unwanted gaps between teeth.
Bonding is a quick and easy procedure that does not
require any of your original tooth enamel be removed,
unlike porcelain veneers and crowns.

Tooth-Colored Fillings
Unlike
inlays, onlays, or porcelain crowns, tooth-colored fillings
are done in a single appointment. They are a good way
to treat small cavities in teeth. Though they look excellent
and are bonded directly to teeth, they are not necessarily
as durable as porcelain inlays or onlays.

Cosmetic Laser Dentistry
Laser
dentistry techniques can help reduce treatment time
and increase the efficiency of many of our cosmetic
procedures. Lasers can be used to remove tooth decay
more quickly and with less pain than with a traditional
drill, and gums can be sculpted and contoured to reduce
the look of a “gummy” smile. Lasers also
speed up the curing of fillings, porcelain crowns and
porcelain veneers, while creating an extremely strong
structure. Our cosmetic dentists are highly experienced
in the use of lasers for cosmetic dentistry procedures
and utilize them whenever possible.
